Converting an existing individual account to a joint account

You can apply to convert your individual Mercury Personal account into a joint account by inviting additional account holders.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Click Settings in the top-left menu.
  2. Under the Account type section, click Convert to joint account.
  3. Invite the person(s) you’d like to add as joint account holders and click Send Invite.

What happens next?

  • Each invited joint account holder must submit an application for approval.
  • While their applications are being reviewed, invitees will have access to your individual account, but you will remain the sole owner until all applications are approved.
    • You can view the status of their applications and account conversion from your Settings page
  • If and when all of the invitees’ applications are approved, your individual Mercury Personal account will be converted to a joint account, and you and the new co-owners will have equal ownership of the account.

If an application is denied:

  • If any of the invitees’ applications are denied, the conversion will be canceled, and your account will remain as an individual account.
