Businesses are required to provide both a legal and a physical address during the application process. If you do not have a valid legal address on file, access to your Mercury account may be temporarily restricted (we are unable to make exceptions to this policy). This may happen if:
- Your business is new and you don’t yet have the document required; or
- Your client has moved or is planning to move and can’t provide the address information required
If either of these scenarios occurs, you’ll unfortunately have to wait to apply until you can verify your physical address.
Your legal address
This will need to be in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. This is where your company is registered in the U.S. and is the address on your company formation documents. This might be your HQ or your registered agent, but cannot be a P.O. Box, PMB, or virtual office.
Your physical address
This can be an office space or your home office, and can be an international or U.S. address, but cannot be a registered agent, P.O. Box, PMB or virtual office. Only the following documents will be accepted to verify a residential address, typically known as Whitelist Validation Documents:
- U.S. Driver's License: Must be valid and unexpired
- Government-issued ID: Must be valid and unexpired
- International Passport: Must be valid and unexpired
- Bank, credit card, or other account statement from the last 60 days. These cannot be from Mercury
- Utility Bill: Must be issued within the last 60 days
- Subscription Invoice from the last 60 days
- Tax documents from the most recent year
- Pay stub from most recent pay period
To confirm or update your company’s legal address:
- Log in to your Mercury account
- Click on your company name in the top left, and then click Settings. This will open your Company Profile
- Confirm your “Company legal address” is a non-P.O. Box address, or select Edit to make any necessary changes
- The address must be a physical address in the United States (e.g. the address on your company formation documents, an office location, etc). If you have a non-U.S. entity account with us, the address requirements remain the same, but we can accept a new address in your country of formation
- Click Update to save your changes
- We may ask for a physical address and supporting documentation
