Insights FAQs

How is my cash flow calculated?

We look at your income and spending over the last few months. By default, we use the last 3 full months of activity, but you can adjust this using the timeframe selector in the top right corner.

  • Money in: all deposits received during that time, excluding internal transfers.
  • Money out: all withdrawals and expenses during that time, excluding internal transfers.
How are my transactions categorized?

Mercury runs each transaction through our categorization engine (currently in beta) and assigns a category when it's confident enough. If anything looks off or uncategorized, open the transaction and update it from the dropdown. Your corrections help the engine improve over time. Learn more about categorization here.

Why am I not seeing certain data?

Some metrics may not appear if your selected time range doesn't include recent enough activity. For the most accurate view, make sure your timeframe extends through today or the end of the most recent month.
