Mercury lets you integrate with popular accounting softwares so your transactions sync seamlessly. This article explains which integrations are available, how syncing works, and how to review and manage transactions from the Accounting page.
Available accounting integrations
You can connect Mercury to the following accounting platforms:
Each integration has its own setup steps and limitations. For details, visit the dedicated support article for the software you’re using.
Syncing basic transaction data
When you connect Mercury to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or NetSuite, Mercury sends a bank feed with baseline transaction details including:
- Amount
- Description
- Transaction date
The bank feed syncs automatically multiple times a day.
Enriching transaction data
You can optionally add additional details to transactions in Mercury before syncing them to the accounting software, including:
- GL codes
- Classes (if applicable)
- Counterparty (like vendor or customer, if applicable)
- Receipts and attachments
- Notes
Note: You can add these details from either the Transactions or Accounting page, but they won’t sync to your accounting software unless you sync them from the Accounting page.
Syncing enriched transaction data from the Accounting page
The Accounting page lets Admin and Accountant users review, categorize, and sync transactions to your connected accounting software.
Get started by clicking Transactions from the left-hand side of your dashboard on web and selecting Accounting.
Review and prepare transactions
Transactions move through several tabs as you work through them:
-
Needs review: Review transactions and apply the required GL codes or accounting fields. Mark transactions as ready once they’re complete.
- Our Categorizing transactions article has more information about categorizations and GL codes
- Ready to sync: Transactions marked as ready appear here. These transactions will sync the next time you run a sync
- Synced: Transactions that have successfully synced to your accounting software. Synced transactions can’t be edited in Mercury but you can make updates to them in your accounting software directly
Resolve sync errors
If a transaction fails to sync, it will appear in the Sync errors tab. You can click into a transaction to view the specific error message.
Once the issue is resolved, you can mark the transaction as ready and sync again.
