Viewing, editing and scheduling pay runs

The Pay Runs page is where you can see upcoming and past payroll, make changes before a pay run is submitted, and create one-time payroll outside your regular schedule.

Viewing your pay runs

Select Pay Runs to see your upcoming and past pay runs.

Toggle between Upcoming and Past to find a pay run, or use the available filters to narrow your results.

Editing a scheduled pay run

Select a scheduled pay run to open its details. You'll see the payday, the total amount Mercury will debit, and a breakdown of what's included in the run.

Select More to see the actions available for that pay run, including Skip, Edit, Add Pays, and Advanced.

You can also hover over a pay run and select Skip without opening it.

Changes you make inside a pay run apply to that run only. To change someone's pay going forward, update their pay details from their profile.

Changing the payday

  1. Open the scheduled pay run
  2. Click the edit icon in the Payday card
  3. Choose a new payday

Editing or removing someone's pay

Select a team member in the pay run to open their pay details. From there, you can:

  • Change their payment method
  • Move their pay to a different pay run
  • Remove them from the pay run

To include someone who isn't currently in the pay run, select Add in the bottom left corner of the table.

Changing advanced settings

Select More, then Advanced to change how this pay run is calculated.

You can:

  • Change the tax calculation method: Choose Supplemental, Weekly, or Monthly. Supplemental applies a flat withholding rate and is typically used for payments like bonuses, commissions, and severance. Weekly and monthly use the withholding tables for that pay frequency
  • Change deductions: Choose whether benefits deductions and post-tax deductions are included in the pay run

Mercury doesn't provide tax advice. If you're unsure which tax calculation method applies, check with your accountant.

Skipping a pay run

Select Skip to skip the scheduled pay run.

Skipping a pay run doesn't change your regular pay schedule. Your next pay run will still have its normal payday.

Scheduling a pay run

Select Schedule Payroll to schedule the pay run. The run will be submitted at its scheduled-by deadline.

Creating a one-time payroll

Use a one-time payroll when you need to pay someone outside your regular pay schedule, such as for a bonus, missed wages, or a final paycheck.

  1. Select Create one-time payroll
  2. Set the pay period start and end dates and the payday
  3. Choose whether the pay run is automatic or manual
  4. Optionally, adjust the advanced settings, including the tax calculation method and whether to withhold benefits or post-tax deductions
