Pay an invoice or payment link with ACH debit

Paying an invoice or payment link with ACH debit is only available where the invoice sender has enabled the "Accept ACH Debit" option on our Pro or Plus plans (learn more about plans and pricing here).

First time payer 

You’ll receive an email indicating that you’ve been sent an invoice and payment links. To set up ACH Debit, follow these steps:

1. Click Pay Invoice for invoices or View Payment link for payment links
2. Select Create Payer Account
3. Fill in the prompted information
4. Click Set and Connect
5. Verify your email
   • You’ll receive  an email at the address you used in step 3
6. Once verified, select Go back to complete your payment
7. Click Connect Bank Account
8. Follow Plaid’s prompts to connect your bank account
9. After your account is connected, click the check box to authorize Mercury to debit your account.
10. Select Send Payment

Returning payer

You’ll receive an email indicating that you’ve been sent an invoice or payment link. 

1. Click Pay Invoice for invoices or View Payment link for payment links
2. Select Sign In
3. Enter your email and password and click Log In
4. Select the account from which you’d like to pay the invoice or payment link
5. Click the check box to authorize Mercury to debit your account
6. Select Send Payment

What is ACH Debit?

ACH Debit is a payment method that enables funds to be withdrawn directly from a checking or savings account.

What are the benefits of ACH Debit?

You can pay directly from the invoice or payment link payment page. There is no need to go to your banking app, no need to copy and paste any information from the invoice or payment link, which results in fewer chances for errors to occur.

How long does an ACH debit take to post?

Incoming invoicing payments via ACH debit take 1-5 business days to post 

How is my bank account information shared and used?

We securely store your information. The sender has no access to that data. Additionally, you need to authorize each payment, so you cannot be automatically charged without your approval.

How can I disconnect my bank account?

You can disconnect your bank account at any time by logging into your Mercury Payer account and disconnecting.

When will my invoice or payment link be paid?

The invoice sender can see you initiated the payment immediately, but the transaction may take up to five business days to settle in their account. 

What if my bank does not support Plaid?

You can send the payment as an ACH or wire rather than an ACH Debit if your bank does not support Plaid.
