Integrating your Mercury account with Slack

By connecting your Slack environment to your Mercury account, you’ll be instantly notified of payments that require your approval, and can review, approve or decline those payments directly from Slack. No more bouncing between environments to perform simple actions.

You can also check your Mercury account balances directly in Slack by using the /mercury-balancecommand.

We’ll continue adding new notifications into Slack in the coming months, making it easier than ever to manage your company’s finances!

What’s included?

  1. Connect Slack to one or all of your Mercury organizations - you’re in control!
  2. If you’re eligible to approve a payment, you will receive a notification within seconds, and be able to approve or decline
    1. If another approver takes action, you’ll see the notification updated
  3. You can check all your associated account balances directly from Slack by using the /balance command

How to enable the Slack integration

The initial set up will require that one admin installs the app in the Slack workspace from our Integrations page. Here are the steps:

  1. Click on your company name in the top left-hand corner of your dashboard and click Settings.
  2. From the sidebar under “Company”, select Integrations.
  3. Locate the Slack integration and click Connect to Slack where you’ll be prompted to log into Mercury via OAuth (email, password, and 2-factor authentication)
  4. Review and Authorize Slack’s access to your selected Mercury account(s). Follow the prompt to head back to Slack where you’ll see that your “Mercury account was successfully connected”.

Once successfully connected, payments requiring approval will be sent to Slack for you to approve.

Additional admins can open the Mercury app in Slack to set up the integration on their end (step 4 onward).

How to disconnect

You can remove the app from Mercury or Slack:

  1. Go to the Integrations page and click Remove for your connection
  2. In Slack, navigate to the About tab in the Mercury app, then Configuration, then Revoke access
