Navigating the Accounting page

The Accounting page allows Admin, Employee or Custom users to view credit and debit card transaction history within your business, and easily determine which transactions are missing categorization before closing out their monthly books.

Accounting dashboard

Accessible from the left-hand side of your dashboard under Accounts, navigate to your Accounting page. This is where you can review all transactions from all accounts, categorize transactions, add receipts and add notes. For more information on the Accounting page, view our dedicated support article

Filter transactions

Filter transactions by date, keywords, method of payment, categories, General Ledger (GL) codes, accounts, policies, receipts and cards.

Categorize transactions

We've partnered with Spade, a third-party aggregator of merchant processing data, to enable Mercury to automatically categorize card-based transactions made within the U.S.

Spade will automatically assign one of 40 pre-made Merchant types to transactions that fit this criteria. In the event that we get it wrong, you can re-categorize any transaction from either the Accounting or Transactions page.

Sync transactions to GL software

If a transaction is ready to be exported or synced with one's accounting software, clicking the checklist icon will add it to the ready-to-sync list. Pressing this Export button (which becomes a "Sync" button when accounting software is connected) will download or send the files.

If you have integrated your Mercury account with one of our partners like Xero, QuickBooks Online, or NetSuite, Admin and bookkeeper users will be able to select a GL code for each transaction before syncing.

If you aren’t connected to one of these accounting softwares, you may also export transactions (including merchant types) in CSV form to be uploaded to the accounting software of your choice.

Add receipts

Depending on the approvals set under Managing card spend policies, all team members will be required to attach their receipts to their transactions.

Mercury also has Automatic receipts matching under the Transactions section. Learn more receipt matching here.
