If you’re an admin, you can issue new IO cards for yourself or your team right from your Mercury dashboard.
Creating the card
- Go to your Cards page from your Mercury dashboard.
- Near the top of the page, click Add Card.
- First, select whether you want to create a standard card or a merchant card (which is locked to a single merchant).
- On the next screen, select Credit.
- Select which team member the card is for.
- Give the card a nickname, like “AWS Payments” or “Jojo’s Expense Card.” The new cardholder can change this later if they’d like.
- Set a daily or monthly spending limit. You can edit this limit later, if needed.
If you issue a physical IO card, the cardholder can start spending instantly with the details from its digital counterpart while they wait for the physical card to arrive. You can issue one physical IO card per team member and as many virtual cards as needed.
Delivery timelines
IO cards may take 2-4 business days to arrive within the United States, and 4-6 business days or longer to arrive internationally. If you’re sending a card to your registered agent’s address, it may take a little longer as they’ll likely add some handling time.

We can mail physical cards anywhere in the world except for these restricted countries.
The Mercury Debit Cards are issued by Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC, pursuant to licenses from Mastercard. The IO Card is issued by Patriot Bank, Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Mastercard.
