Understanding conversion fees for non-USD card transactions

Mercury charges a currency conversion fee of 3% on all Mercury business debit and IO transactions that are made in currencies other than USD. While IO cards cannot be used for ATM withdrawals, Mercury business debit cards can. Non-USD ATM withdrawals with debit cards are also subject to the same currency conversion fee. Note that this fee won't be returned, even if your original transaction is refunded.

How to view your conversion fees

You can view currency conversion fees on your Transactions page. Each fee appears as a separate line item linked to the original non-USD transaction.

To see the full details:

  1. Go to the Transactions page
  2. Select the original purchase or fee entry titled "Intl. Transaction fee"
  3. In the details panel, you’ll see:
    • The original transaction
    • The converted USD amount
    • The 3% conversion fee (shown as a linked transaction)

If you have multiple fee entries, selecting any one of them will show the associated purchase in the details panel.

Conversion fees, limits and IO Cashback

Currency conversion fees charged on purchases will not impact individual card limits. They do however apply against your overall borrowable credit for your business.

Non-USD transactions are eligible for IO Cashback rewards based on the converted USD amount at the time of purchase. However, any currency conversion fees applied to the transaction are excluded from cashback calculations.

The Mercury Debit Cards are issued by Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC, pursuant to licenses from Mastercard®. The IO Card is issued by Patriot Bank, N.A., Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Mastercard International Incorporated. To receive cash back, your Mercury accounts must be open and in good standing, meaning they cannot be suspended, restricted, past due, or otherwise in default.
