Individual accounts

Individual Mercury Personal accounts are owned by a single individual account holder. Key characteristics include:

  • Account in the account holder’s name
  • Full control over funds
  • Up to $5 million FDIC insurance* coverage
  • Payments must be sent and received in the name of the account holder


These accounts are ideal for personal finances.

Joint accounts

Joint Mercury Personal accounts are co-owned by two or more individual account holders. They offer:

  • Account in all account holder’s names
  • The ability to receive payments in the name of any account holder
  • Increased FDIC insurance (up to $5 million** per account holder)
  • Automatic transfer to surviving account holders upon death


Joint accounts are common for couples or situations where it’s advantageous to have shared finances.
