Since Mercury works with multiple partner banks to provide banking services, it's possible that your Mercury accounts are held across more than one of them. Most of your experience will be similar across the different partner banks, but there are a few key differences to note.
This article explains how to identify which partner bank each of your accounts is on, what can vary between them, and how to manage your accounts effectively.
How to tell which partner bank your account is with
Here are two ways to tell if you have accounts at more than one of Mercury’s partner banks::
1. Open your account details
- Log in to your dashboard and go to the “Accounts” page
- Click on an account to view its details
- The partner bank name appears on the right-hand side of the screen
2. Look for bank badges
- If you have accounts with multiple partner banks, you’ll see badges next to each account name
- These badges persist throughout the dashboard, including dropdowns when sending money or creating new accounts, so you can quickly see which account is with which bank
Features that differ by partner bank
Your Mercury experience will be largely the same across partner banks. That said, a few features do vary. Here’s what to know:
| Feature | Choice | Column N.A | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Receiving real-time payments (RTP) | ❌ | ✅ | Only supported for accounts on Column N.A. If you don’t have an account on Column N.A and would like to access RTP receive, reach out to our team for assistance. For example, if you’re planning to receive a real-time payment, make sure it’s going to one of your Column accounts. |
| Wire drawdowns | ✅ | ❌ | Only supported for accounts on Choice. Learn more here. |
| International wires | ✅ | ✅ | While sending and receiving USD/non-USD international wires is supported for accounts on both Choice and Column N.A, the wire instructions vary. Learn how to read your wire instructions here. |
| ACH & domestic wires | ✅ | ✅ | Instructions are the same across partner banks. |
Managing accounts across partner banks
When you have accounts with more than one partner bank, there are a few operational differences to keep in mind:
Creating new checking/savings accounts
Your preferred partner bank is set to whichever partner bank you most recently opened an account with. All new checking and savings accounts will open on that partner bank by default.
If you need to switch your preferred partner bank please message us while signed in, or follow these steps to reach Support.
Transferring between partner banks
Transfers between accounts at different partner banks must be done manually — either through the transfer flow (typically 1–3 business days) or by initiating a manual wire (typically same-day if sent before 2 pm PT). Read more about payment timelines here.
Auto transfer rules are only supported between accounts at the same partner bank.
Consolidating your accounts
If you'd like to consolidate your accounts under one partner bank, you can follow this guide.
