Updating your business name

If you need to update a name on your Mercury account, an account owner can submit a request from the Company Profile page. Whether you're adding a doing business as (DBA) name or updating your company's legal business name, you'll follow a similar process with different documentation requirements.

Add a doing business as (DBA) name

Use this option if your business has registered a DBA or trade name that you'd like to use with your Mercury account:

1. On web, click your name in the top-left corner, then select All Settings > Company Profile
2. In the "Doing Business As (DBA)" section, click Edit
3. Enter your DBA name
4. Upload a scanned copy of your officially filed DBA document
   • We can't accept screenshots from a Secretary of State website or other third-party websites
5. Click Submit

After you submit your request, our team will review it and notify you once it's been approved.

What to know

• Wire transfers and checks always display your legal business name
• After your DBA is approved, you can send ACH transfers using either your legal business name or your DBA

Note: If you registered a new DBA after opening your Mercury account, you'll need to add it to your company profile before you can receive transactions under that name.

Update your legal business name

Use this option if your company's legal name has changed:

1. On web, click your name in the top-left corner, then select All Settings > Company Profile
2. In the "Legal name" section, click Edit
3. Enter your new legal name
4. Answer the requested questions about your company and the name change
5. Upload your officially filed name change documentation
6. Click Submit

After you submit your request, our team will review it. While it's under review, the request will appear as "Pending" on your Company Profile page. We'll notify you once the review is complete.

If you're not an account owner

Only account owners can make these updates in Mercury. If you're an admin, contact our Support team and we'll work with you to gather the required information and complete the business name updates on your behalf.
