Linking and transferring between Mercury accounts across organizations

You can link Mercury accounts across organizations, so you can move funds between them more easily. This article covers how to set up a link between Mercury accounts, how to send a transfer, and how to troubleshoot common issues.

Before you begin

Linking accounts across Mercury has specific eligibility requirements. Review these before starting.

To create or delete a link, you must:

  • Be an admin on both organizations
  • Have shared ownership between the two orgs — someone must be listed as an owner on both

If you’re linking a Mercury Personal account:

  • The person creating the link must be both an admin and an owner of the Mercury Personal account

To send money to a linked account, you must have:

  • Send money permissions or be an admin on the account you’re sending from

How linking works

No sensitive information is shared or visible between linked accounts — linking only enables transfers.

Account links are one-directional. When you link two accounts, you can only push funds from the originating account to the linked account — you cannot pull funds from the linked account.

Linking Mercury accounts:

To link a Mercury account to another Mercury organization:

  1. Click Accounts on the left-hand side of your Mercury dashboard on web
  2. Navigate to the Linked accounts tab
  3. Select Link Mercury account or click the dropdown next to “Create account” and click Link Mercury account
  4. Choose the organization you want to link to — only eligible organizations will appear
  5. Review the permissions summary and select Confirm link

Transferring funds to a linked account

Once the link is created, team members with send money permissions can start transferring funds to the linked account from the Transfer funds flow. You can read more about how to transfer funds between accounts here

Transfer speeds will follow our regular timelines. Exact timing depends on whether both accounts share the same partner bank:

  • Same partner bank: Transfers typically take a few minutes.
  • Different partner banks: Transfers are processed via ACH and can take 1–3 business days

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Mercury account I want to link

If an organization doesn't appear when setting up a link, one of the following eligibility requirements likely isn't met:

  • You are not an admin on both organizations
  • There is no shared ownership between the organizations — no single person is listed as an owner on both
  • For personal accounts: you are not both the admin and owner of the personal account

The dashboard only surfaces organizations you're eligible to link with. If an org is missing, it's because an eligibility condition hasn't been met.

I'm an admin on both accounts but still can't link

If the organizations don't share an email address, Mercury may not be able to identify the connection between them without an existing profile link. Try linking your profiles first, then return to this flow.

If profiles are already linked, a data mismatch may be preventing the connection. Common causes include:

  • Name changes (such as after marriage)
  • Spelling variations between accounts
  • Outdated beneficial owner records

If you believe there's a data mismatch on your account or still experiencing issues, contact Mercury support.
